# Control every detail in Manual Mode

> Manual Mode lets you set the Style, Playbook, length, platforms and claims yourself. What each control does.

> [!TIP]
>
> **Short answer:** Manual Mode hands every choice back to you: the Style, the Playbook, the length, the platforms, and which claims the ad may use. It costs the same as Autopilot. The optional market check costs a little extra.
>
> * Use it once you have made a few ads.
> * You still approve the script before anything is made.

Manual Mode gives you the same ad engine as Autopilot with every decision handed back to you. *"Pick the product, the style, and every control."*

It is worth using once you have made a few ads and have a view on what works. Before that, Autopilot's guesses are usually better than a beginner's.

## What it costs

The same as any other route — see the [credit costs](https://ugcfirst.com/help/billing/what-are-credits.md). One extra option here costs more, and it is called out below.

## The controls

You pick your product first, the same way as in Autopilot. Then:

**Output** — Video, Image ads or Campaign.

**Style** — the visual world the ad lives in. Five to choose from in Manual Mode. [Which Style to choose](https://ugcfirst.com/help/creating/which-style-should-you-choose.md).

**Playbook** — the story beats, shown as the actual running order, for example *Hook → Product proof → Benefit proof → Objection answer → Soft CTA*. [Which Playbook to choose](https://ugcfirst.com/help/creating/which-playbook-should-you-choose.md).

**Duration** — 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 seconds.

**Platforms** — TikTok, Meta (Reels), YouTube Shorts or Instagram. This sets the shape and pacing.

**Claims the ad may use** — the claims read off your product page, listed so you can untick anything you do not want said. Worth reading. Anything left ticked can end up in the script.

**Call to action** and **Offer** — both optional. Leave them empty and a sensible one is written for you.

## The market validation add-on

**Validate against the market** adds 10 credits. It researches your market and forecasts how the ad is likely to perform, and shows you that *before* you spend credits on making it.

Turned off, you go straight to your spec. Worth the 10 credits when you are about to spend 100 on a video you are unsure about.

## Before anything renders

The button says **Make my ad**, and underneath it says *"You'll review the script before anything renders."* That is accurate — there is still an approval step.

It is a screen headed **Your script**. You can change any line, or ask for a different take. When it reads right, press **Looks good — start filming**. For image ads the screen is **Your design**, and the button is **Looks good — generate**.
